Municipal and Regional Roadway Improvements for Honda Indy (March 23, 2026 - June 30, 2026)


With warmer weather finally here, construction has officially resumed as we gear up for the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham! Construction work began again on March 23 and will continue until June 30, weather permitting.

 

Thank you for your patience as we get Markham Centre race ready.

This spring, a new left-turn restriction will be implemented at 9255 Woodbine Avenue onto 16th Avenue.

 

As part of York Region’s Vision Zero Traveller Safety Plan, this change will:

 

-Reduce collisions involving southbound vehicles turning left from the plaza

 

-Improve safety and traffic flow for all road users

Beginning spring 2026, York Region is widening and improving Ninth Line/Donald Cousens Parkway from Steeles Avenue to 14th Avenue in the City of Markham.


Planned Work: Road widening and new infrastructure to service the community on Ninth Line/Donald Cousens Parkway from Steeles Avenue to Fieldside Street.
Road rehabilitation and intersection work to maintain assets and improve operations on Ninth Line/Donald Cousens Parkway from Fieldside Street to 14th Avenue. 

 

Key Dates: Spring 2026 to late 2027

 

Although no major service impacts are anticipated, travellers may experience the following: 

  • Lane reductions outside of peak travel times
  • Some night and weekend work will be required
  • Access will be maintained for all driveways/entrances

You may have downspouts connected to the sewer when they should not be. This can cause sewage backups in your basement during storms and when the snow melts. If your downspout goes directly into the ground, it may be connected to the sewer system.
