During Veterans' Week, we honour the courage and sacrifices of Canadian veterans and active service members. Let’s take this time to reflect, remember, and express our gratitude.

The City of Markham adopted Budget 2026 which was presented by Mayor Frank Scarpitti on October 1.

With Budget 2026, we maintain our record of lowest average property tax rate increase in the GTA over two decades. The budget adoption follows input from staff, Council and the community.

- Tape an X across the glass to prevent shattering

- Cover any exposed or sharp edges for safe handling

- Broken and sharp items can be placed in a carboard box

Be sure to keep all drains and catch basins clear of leaves this autumn! By keeping these clear you can help prevent flooding and keep roads and sidewalks safe.

Let’s all do our part to keep our community clean and considerate.

We can’t control the weather, but we can control how we put material out at the curb.

To prevent wind-blown litter:
Don’t overload; Keep items below the rim
  • Place heavier items on top like bundled newspapers
  • Put your material out the morning of your collection day, not the night before
  • Drop off and de-bag! Markham Recycling Depots accept blue box recyclables
  • For more helpful homeowner tips, visit http://markham.ca/CurbsideCollection
