Thanks to the amazing care provided by Shades of Hope Wildlife Refuge, these majestic birds were given a second chance to soar.

York Regional Council Highlights - October, 2025

York Region recognized for more than two decades of budget excellence Prestigious financial award reflects ongoing commitment to meeting the highest principles of government budgeting.

 

The Regional Municipality of York received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the Region’s 2025 budget, marking 21 consecutive years the Region has been recognized with this award.

 

York Region tabled the 2026 Budget on Thursday, October 23, 2025. Departmental presentations will be presented to Committee of the Whole on Thursday, November 6, 2025, with Council consideration on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

York Regional Council received an update on York Region’s Community Paramedicine program expansion to Georgina Island First Nation, supporting work to advance Truth and Reconciliation Commission recommendations while respecting a shared commitment to First Nation self determination.
