Did you know? Our Roads Operations team is using some pretty cool and innovative AI technology to keep our roads in good shape! The team uses mobile devices with AI mounted on vehicles to scan roads for cracks, potholes and other surface issues.

This is made possible from CITYROVER, an AI technology from Visual Defence that assess pavement conditions automatically and in real-time. Fun fact: We were the first municipality to fully pilot this since 2020!

AI helps our Roads Operations team prioritize which roads need repairs or maintenance first, so we can keep things safer and smoother for everyone.

The City of Markham’s Park and Play Fun Tour is back for another exciting summer, bringing free recreation and family-friendly fun to neighbourhood parks across the city.

York Regional Council Highlights - June 2025
As requested by the resident, I have contacted YRT regarding the installation of a new bus shelter at Ninth Line and 16th Avenue.

The northbound stop located at the southeast corner of the intersection (Stop #1770) meets the necessary criteria and is scheduled to have a new coordinated street furniture transit shelter installed before the end of the year.
During the summer months, York Region crews inspect and replace road signs that are missing, faded or damaged to help keep you safe and informed on the road. Learn more at http://york.ca/Roads

Bats are active and can carry rabies. Never touch a bat. If you've had contact with one, wash with soap and warm water for 15 minutes and get medical help.

Okay… maybe not! But, you may be happy to know that you can order a backyard composter for only $35! Composting is an easy way to make nutrient-rich compost for your gardens. Price includes home delivery + tax.
