Environment Canada has issued a Special Air Quality Statement due to wildfire smoke in the area this morning into early afternoon. As smoke levels increase, health risks increase.

 

Protect your health and reduce exposure to smoke by: 

 

  • Reduce or reschedule outdoor activities 
  • If you experience shortness of breath, wheezing, severe cough, dizziness or chest pains, contact your healthcare provider 
  • Keep indoor air clean by keeping doors and windows closed if the temperature is comfortable 
  • Use a clean, good quality air filter in your ventilation system and/or a certified portable air cleaner that can filter fine particles 
  • Check in on the elderly and those who may be more susceptible to smoke

Road closure notification Elgin Mills Road E will be closed from Reesor Road to York Durham Line from Monday, June 9, 2025 to Friday, June 13, 2025.

 

Detours will be in place. Please plan your travel accordingly, and thank you for your patience.

As you declutter, remember all textiles are accepted in Markham’s textile recycling program. Including items that are worn, torn, or stained. Even single socks and shoes are welcome!
