York Region is applying a road preservation treatment called microsurfacing.

It’s spring cleanup time and our crews are hard at work keeping our roads clean. Over the past couple of weeks, our crews cleaned over 460,000 metres of Regional roads!

-Removing and replacing asphalt road surface on Major Mackenzie Drive East from McCowan Road to Highway 48
-Repairing sidewalks and curbs
-Late spring 2025 to mid-summer 2025
-The road will remain open to through traffic; however, temporary lane closures are required Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
-Access to homes and businesses will be maintained

As the Chair of Markham’s Chair of Culture & Economic Development Committee, I'm pleased to be the Event Chair of the first Kung Fu Film Festival in Canada, which will be opening in Markham on May 31st with the classic Kung Fu film – The Shaolin Temple, remastered in 4K, featuring Jet Li.
We are honoured that Grandmaster Hwang In Shik, will be attending our event and answer questions about the movie he starred in – Hapkido, and probably his works with Bruce Lee!
This Kung Fu Film Festival brings 7 movies spanning 50 years, from 1974 to 2024, to Canadian audiences and promises to wrap up Asian Heritage Month with a kick!
