Markham Museum is offering a glimpse into the sustainability practices in our past with their Earth Day Tour: A focus on sustainability in heritage. Join us April 26 and 27 between noon and 3 PM for a 45-minute guided tour. Guests will have the opportunity to tour the Honey House and Maxwell Cabin to explore settler food, preservation methods, and the heritage orchard highlighting sustainable farming practices.
 

York Region confirmed a traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of 16th Avenue and Lockridge Avenue/Nufield Gate as part of the Sixteenth Avenue Improvements project. 

 

In addition to the traffic signal, the following enhancements will be made to enhance safety and accessibility of our roadways for all users:

 

* Concrete sidewalk ramps and tactile plates will be constructed to improve accessibility for all pedestrians, including those with visual impairments.


* Crossride pavement markings will be added in all directions to facilitate safer crossings for cyclists.


* Dedicated left-turn lanes for eastbound and westbound traffic will be implemented at the 16th Avenue and Lockridge Avenue intersection.


* A new 1.5-metre sidewalk will be built in the south boulevard and a 2.4-metre Multi-Use Path (MUP) in the north boulevard of 16th Avenue.
