I had the opportunity to tour the Markham Food Bank at 190 Bullock Drive, Unit 11, with Stephen Lough, President of the Markham Food Bank.

During the tour, I learned that the number of clients experiencing food insecurity has increased by 78% over the past two years, with a 46% rise in 2023 alone. While people typically donate during the holiday season, the Foodbank needs donations year-round, as food insecurity affects individuals and families throughout the entire year, not just during the holidays.

The Food Bank welcomes donations and encourages the community to drop off food during the following hours:

-Tuesday: 4:00 PM - 7:30 PM
-Thursday: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
-Saturday: 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Donations can also be made anytime at your local Markham fire station. Your support truly makes a difference.

I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Markham Food Bank and its dedicated volunteers for their ongoing hard work and steadfast commitment to supporting our community.
