Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Markham. Hot and humid conditions are expected through most of the week. 
 
Extreme heat affects everyone. During this time remember to:
- Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty
- Wear loose fitting, light-coloured clothing made of breathable fabric
- Prepare meals that don’t need to be cooked in your oven
- Block sunlight by closing curtains and blinds
- Check on vulnerable community members
- Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle
- Cool off at one of our splash pads or community centres
 
Yesterday, the City welcomed Eabametoong First Nation representatives to the Markham Civic Centre to discuss ongoing initiatives in our partnership agreement.
 
Since 2017, Markham and Eabametoong First Nation have been collaborating on culture exchange and knowledge sharing.

Cheers to 60 Years! Councillor Ritch Lau and his family celebrating Mon Sheong Foundation’s 60th Anniversary. It is impressive how Mon Sheong Foundation has continually evolved and expanded its services to meet the diverse needs of our community over the past six decades.

 

Mon Sheong Foundation’s new Senior Care Campus will be located in Markham. The new campus consists of a 320-bed long-term care facility, Mon Sheong Court, senior apartments, and a Personal Support Workers (PSW) training centre.
